Commission approves program fee changes and two rec‑fund transfers for inflatable slide and aquapark upgrades

Recreation Supervisor Ryan (S6) reviewed program changes and rationale: a $5 per-participant archery surcharge to offset the cost of arrows, raising youth theater T-shirt fees from $14 to $21 to break even on production costs, and small fees for a new playground-play offering and Camp Regner. Ryan noted a late contract change by the Bog (golf partner), which increased the Bog’s price from $1.35 to $1.40 and increased city revenue per round accordingly.
The commission then approved program fee changes as submitted, with the exception of a noted youth-golf pricing item that staff will revisit.
Two transfers approved: staff requested $4,695 from the recreation fund balance to replace an inflatable slide for the Dirty Ninja Mud Run for Kids; Ryan said the 2016 slide failed during the prior season and fund balance levels supported the purchase. The commission also approved a $14,159.37 transfer to buy three new aquaglide obstacles and additional life jackets for Regner AquaPark; staff said the three obstacles would increase maximum simultaneous users from about 140 to 150 and estimated the investment would break even if roughly 40% of the added capacity is sold.
Votes: All motions described above were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
What’s next: Staff will implement fee changes, order the replacement slide and aquaglide obstacles, and report back on expenditures and any operational changes for the AquaPark season.
