Dr. Peri Berry told the board that the Arizona attorney general’s review rated the district 'very low risk' financially; she also recapped enrollment outreach numbers, school partnerships, student awards and staff recognitions.
Superintendent Dr. Peri Berry delivered a strategic-plan-centered report that covered finance, school safety, partnerships and student achievement.
Berry said the Arizona attorney general’s annual financial review, which uses 10 financial indicators, designated Queen Creek Unified School District as "very low risk," noting the district’s reserves, enrollment trends and budget capacity compared favorably statewide. "The attorney general's report designated Queen Creek as as very low risk," Berry said.
She reported robust outreach for school choice events: 410 new families toured elementary schools and 300 families toured junior-high campuses during recent events. Berry also noted partnerships connecting students to local colleges and health-care pathways, school-based CPR certifications conducted with the Queen Creek Fire Department, and recognition of staff and student successes—including a regional FBLA showing and a district spelling-bee champion.
Berry highlighted staff awards such as Silver Valley Elementary receiving a Teacher-Created-Materials spotlight, and recognized individual scholarship and military-commitment announcements from students in attendance.
The presentation was informational; no board action was required. Berry’s remarks emphasized fiscal stability and community partnerships as supports for district growth and student success.
