The Leitchfield City Council approved several administrative and funding-related items during the meeting.
The council adopted a resolution authorizing Mayor Miller to submit an application for funds through the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security; Officer Chase Melton was identified as working on that application. The motion was made by Council member Billy and seconded by Clay and carried on a recorded voice vote.
City Clerk Gloria Woosley asked for authority to pursue a safety grant of up to $2,500 to buy an AED and supplies needed for employee training; council approved the request. Woosley said the likely purchases would use most of the $2,500 and that bringing some training in-house would save future costs.
Council approved three documents related to a KII loan for the wastewater treatment plant: an assistance agreement for the mayor’s signature, a resolution authorizing the city to enter the assistance agreement, and an opinion letter from the city attorney. Staff described engineering and design as the primary use of the loan proceeds.
The council also approved appointments to the city’s baseball committee (eight nominees were read into the record) and reappointed Gabe Fulkerson to the Code Enforcement Board for a term from Feb. 2026 to Feb. 19, 2029.
Council approved the December 2025 financial statements and closed the meeting with routine announcements about upcoming committee and chamber events.
