Lake Forest City — At the start of public comment, resident Mark Perminson told the Traffic and Parking Commission he and neighbors on Malabar feel permit parking rules are enforced unevenly compared with nearby Bella Palermo and that the situation has caused repeated vehicle damage.
Perminson said permit parking and enforcement "comes across as kinda discriminatory and harassing," alleging that Bella Palermo residents routinely park during street sweeping and that vehicles and trailers are left for long periods without enforcement. He said one RV has been parking for weeks and that he personally has sustained about $3,000 in vehicle damage which he attributed to unsafe parking behavior in the area.
Perminson asked the commission to revisit permit parking privileges for the private street and to consider removing them. Chair Reichert and staff noted procedural next steps: staff said historical information about agreements and past actions is available through a public records request handled by the city clerk, subject to the city's records retention policy.
The commission did not take action on the request at the meeting; staff asked residents to pursue public records requests for historical documentation and recommended continuing discussion at a future meeting if warranted.
