Taft authorizes up to $45,000 for economic-development work with HDL Econ Solutions

The Taft City Council voted Feb. 3 to authorize the mayor to execute two task orders with HDL Econ Solutions as amendments to the city’s existing master service agreement for sales and property tax analysis, with total payment for the work not to exceed $45,000.
City planning staff said HDL Econ Solutions has knowledge of Taft’s local economy and proposed to complete the work described in the proposal for an amount not to exceed $45,000; Task Order 1 would be paid upon completion and acceptance of deliverables, while Task Order 2 would be paid in increments tied to work milestones.
The council also scheduled a study session for Feb. 17 during which Richard Chapman and Barry Foster will present and the public may attend and participate. Mayor Pro Tem Josh Bryant emphasized the need for data-driven marketing and said the services will help the city identify bottlenecks and better target outreach to attract business.
The council approved the authorization by roll-call vote recorded as 5-0.
