District facilities update: HVAC installs, library AC, site safety work near completion

District facilities staff provided a multi-site capital-project update showing significant progress on HVAC, casework, flooring and safety improvements across Gloversville City School District buildings.

At Kingsborough the representative said interior ductwork has been installed and ceilings will be finished this week; sidewalks at the parking-lot side will be poured the week before school starts. Boulevard rooms on the first floor have been turned over and second-floor air-handling kits are being completed; Park Terrace’s south side classrooms and library have ceilings up and will be cleaned and readied for school. The middle school main office and secure vestibule casework and flooring were reported near completion, and the high school vestibule and second-floor rooftop-fed units were described as nearing final installation.

Facilities staff also said the current project is expected to finish under budget. The district’s financial advisor recommended transferring savings into a new capital project to support site work that does not receive building aid, an example being improvements at Husky Fields. Staff noted small safety and security additions—exterior amber strobes and new dialers—were added, along with additional ceilings and office carpet replacements.

Board members asked schedule and access questions, including whether some areas would require second-shift work after school begins. Staff said remaining punch-list items would be completed over September and via second shifts and weekends as needed. New signage for the high school and middle school had arrived in state and was expected to be installed in early September.
