Corsicana ISD board approves library materials, casts appraisal-district votes and adopts Davis-Bacon wage resolution

The board discussed how CISD's votes are allocated in the Freestone and Navarro Central Appraisal District elections because CISD represents properties in neighboring counties. The board recorded motions to cast votes for director nominees (examples in staff comments included casting 480 votes for Brad Farmer and 645 votes for Dr. Seth Brown for Navarro Central) and recorded the motions as carried.
Before issuing an RFP for a construction manager (CMAR), staff said the district must adopt prevailing wage rates published by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Davis-Bacon Act. An attendee moved that the board "adopt the prevailing wage rates published by the United States Department of Labor in accordance with the Davis Bacon Act," the motion was seconded, and the board voted to adopt the rates. Transcript lines include transcription errors in the statute citation; staff's stated intent was to apply federal prevailing-wage requirements to district-funded construction projects where applicable.
The consent agenda was moved and approved, and the meeting was adjourned to a closed session permitted by government code section 554.
