Commission accepts bids for review, approves surplus list and board appointment, signs Silver Rock MOU

The Millard County Commission opened three sealed bids for a 2026 Kenworth heavy-haul tractor and voted to accept the bids for staff review. The low bid listed on the documents opened in the meeting was from Zach Clayton Truck Sales at roughly $192,400; other bids included amounts near $193,950 and $202,001.92. Commissioners instructed staff to review the bids against the specifications, model years and delivery dates before awarding the contract.
The commission also approved a list of surplus office items and vehicles that county staff will offer for auction with minimums set at trade-in value. Staff explained the posted values use retail reference pricing and that vehicles have reserve/minimum bids set at trade-in.
On appointments, commissioners discussed a vacancy on the North County care and rehab board and approved the boards recommended nominee, Mary Jo Smith, to fill that seat. Staff were asked to notify the appointee.
The commission voted to sign a memorandum of understanding to act as a cooperating agency on the Silver Rock Transmission Project, a step staff said gives the county a formal seat for input in routing and environmental decisions with the BLM. Staff noted the cooperating-agency role can be rescinded with notice if participation is later determined not to be beneficial.
