"We should be able to pay for this bus out of transit reserve," a transit official told the board, adding that the county has managed to fund previous bus local shares from reserves. Commissioners discussed whether to reduce routes or hours if future funding is reduced, and whether service levels should be prioritized to reach more distant communities. They also asked staff for documentation about statutory obligations referenced to the Olmstead Act on transit service levels.
A motion to approve the transit bus purchase and authorize use of transit reserve funds carried by voice vote.
The board did not specify a change to service patterns at this meeting; commissioners asked staff to continue evaluating the budgetary impact of future required local matches and to flag potential service changes in upcoming budget planning.
