Committee approves release of RFP for Mac Miller Park master plan

The Weston Parks & Recreation Committee voted on Feb. 23, 2026, to release a request for proposals for a master plan at Mac Miller Park. Staff said the RFP follows templates used for recent park planning and would require consultants to conduct public and stakeholder engagement as part of their work.
Staff told the committee that funding for design work would typically be determined by the village finance committee and that parkland dedication or park impact fees collected from new development are possible funding sources. Committee members asked that the RFP reserve the village’s right to reject all proposals; staff agreed to add that language before release.
"If somebody wants to make a motion to approve releasing this with the suggested change, we'll move forward," an unidentified committee member said; a motion was made and seconded, and the committee voted aye. The motion passed by voice vote.
Staff will return proposals and estimated costs to the committee once submissions are received and a funding recommendation is developed.
