Board approves opioid-settlement funding transfer for juvenile probation vehicle

The Churchill County Board of Commissioners authorized a fund transfer Wednesday to allow the juvenile probation department to purchase a vehicle using opioid settlement account funds.
The juvenile probation department explained a juvenile outreach specialist position had been created and staff delayed buying a vehicle until the position and program needs were better understood. Previously budgeted opioid-settlement dollars totaled $49,495 but staff said the correct total needed is $64,852.51. The comptroller noted she could not locate some items in the minutes and asked that the board approve the full amount so the invoice can be coded to the correct fund when it arrives.
"So if that's okay with you guys, we'll just make that motion to be $64,852.51," a county representative said; commissioners then moved, seconded and carried the transfer and purchase authorization.
County staff said payment will be made from the opioid settlement fund line items and accounting will code the invoice accordingly.
