Star honors retiring councilman David Hershey; new members sworn in and council president elected

Steve Day also took the oath of office, received his certificate of election and said he intends to serve "with honor and integrity." During his remarks Day noted his family and thanked community members who supported his campaign; he corrected a joking comment to say he won by 38 votes.
The council then held a nomination, second and roll-call vote to elect a council president; the roll call recorded unanimous "aye" votes and the motion carried. The individual who accepted the position thanked colleagues on the record; the transcript does not include an explicit full-name announcement of the newly elected president at the moment of the roll call.
