Star police chief reports year-to-date crime figures, highlights 208-gram meth seizure

Tim Mains, chief of police for the city of Star, presented the police department’s November report at the Dec. 16 council meeting, saying the department has recorded 240 crimes year-to-date and remains on track to meet its goals. "As you review, you'll see we have 240 crimes year to date, which puts us on track to, meet our goals," Mains said.
Mains reported roughly 370 calls for service last month and 369 traffic stops, with the number of arrests at 15. He said proactive policing totaled 2,140—about a 5.7-to-1 ratio of proactive contacts to calls for service—and that selected call types were steady compared with the prior month. "Our, select call types stayed relatively steady from last month," he said.
The chief highlighted a rise in drug-related activity during November, saying drug charges rose to about 40% of relevant arrests and pointing to several notable incidents: "We had a seizure of 208 grams of methamphetamine, which is nearly half a pound," Mains said, crediting Deputy Norris with that seizure. He also described arrests of parolees on possession charges and noted one detention by Deputy Meyer occurred just outside city limits and so did not appear on the city report.
Mains said mental-health holds dropped to one case and that emergency (code 3) response times fell significantly, with an inside-city response time he reported as 1 minute 26 seconds. "That is really fast," he said, adding the department is prioritizing rapid responses.
The presentation closed with the chief taking no immediate policy requests; council members offered the department praise for recent arrests and work removing drugs from neighborhoods. There was no formal action tied to the presentation. The department did not provide a breakdown of the underlying data beyond the figures Mains shared at the meeting.
