Summary
At the Jan. 15 meeting in Newcomb, two board members were sworn in and the board elected Gary Montoya president, Rebecca Montoya vice president and Christina Aspis secretary. The board also confirmed a quorum and approved the meeting agenda.
Judge Cole of Farmington’s Magistrate Court administered the oath of office to newly sworn and re-elected members of the Central Consolidated School District Board of Education during the board’s Jan. 15 regular meeting in Newcomb. "I, Rebecca Montoya," and "I, Christina J Espas," repeated into the record as they swore to "support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution and laws of the State of New Mexico" and to "faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of the office," as Judge Cole led the ceremony.
After the oath, board members held officer elections. Members nominated and voted to elect Gary Montoya as board president; members then elected Rebecca Montoya as vice president and Christina Aspis as secretary following nominations and roll-call voting. The nominations and votes were conducted in open session and recorded by roll call.
The board opened the meeting by confirming a quorum (three in person, one online) and approving the meeting agenda, with a motion to pull consent item C so the district’s board report summary could be read for the public. The board’s procedural actions were all approved by recorded votes during the meeting.
The meeting then moved on to routine business including finance and program reports.
