The Catalina Foothills Unified School District Governing Board voted Jan. 27 to approve a multi-item consent agenda that includes grant acceptances and construction awards for school facilities.
The board approved acceptance of School Facilities Building Renewal Grant (BRG) funds to replace an air conditioning unit at Orange Grove Middle School (estimated $50,000), to replace elevators at Catalina Foothills High School (estimated $1,200,000), and to replace a hot water boiler at Ventana Vista Elementary School (estimated $225,000). The board also approved a change order to Progressive Roofing for a reroofing project at Sunrise Drive Elementary School in the amount of $115,347.40 and an award to Kittle Design and Construction for a new ADA sidewalk, building improvements and a relocated drinking fountain at Canyon View Elementary School in the amount of $172,748.
Unidentified Speaker 6 moved to approve the consent agenda items; Unidentified Speaker 5 seconded. The chair called the vote and the motion carried 5–0.
The chair thanked district facilities personnel for securing the funds, noting the district had obtained almost $2,100,000 in the projects included on the consent agenda. The consent agenda also included administrative items such as minutes, expense vouchers, field trip and fundraising approvals, personnel memoranda, acceptance of gifts and the adoption of certain fees with authority to waive fees for economic hardship.
Board members did not request separate discussion of individual consent items during the meeting; all items passed on the single motion.
The board moved on to unfinished business and later recessed into an executive session; no action was taken during that closed session.
