At the Sept. 5 meeting, the Port Richey Citizen Advisory Committee confirmed a slate of community events for the coming months and discussed promotion and logistics.
Members said a seafood festival is planned for March 14 at Waterfront Park from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with about 40 vendor spaces, a fishing tournament, kiteboarding activities if weather allows, a boat poker run and live music from roughly 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A DJ was planned for the morning slot from roughly 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A separate boat parade was promoted with pamphlets distributed at the meeting.
The committee also scheduled a community cleanup on March 7 at Waterfront Park at 8 a.m.; the city will provide garbage bags, volunteers were urged to bring gloves, and an organizer offered to provide coffee and donuts. Members raised safety concerns (need for gloves and grabbers after prior encounters with needles) and noted that the city has some grabbers available.
On outreach, members agreed to coordinate 'Meet Your Neighbor' events with the chamber, holding gatherings roughly every other month. The next chamber‑coordinated meeting mentioned in the discussion was March 20 at SIPs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Committee members discussed highlighting new local businesses (Westside Deli, Gator Tales, Off the River and others) to draw residents to events and suggested incentives such as vendor promotions to boost attendance.
Next steps: event organizers will continue vendor outreach, post promotional flyers (committee reviewed a draft), and finalize logistics at the events committee meeting referenced for the coming Monday at 6 p.m. No formal funding decisions were made at the Sept. 5 meeting.
Practical details noted in the meeting: the cleanup is scheduled for March 7, Waterfront Park, 8 a.m.; seafood festival March 14, Waterfront Park, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Meet Your Neighbor (chamber collaboration) March 20 at SIPs 6–8 p.m.
