At its Feb. 5, 2026 meeting the Public Service Commission handled routine procedural business and several docketed actions in addition to its major consideration of the Alma–Blair transmission CPCN.
Commissioners approved the minutes of the Jan. 29, 2026 open meeting and moved through agenda items that included approval of the scope for the quadrennial planning process (docket 5FE105) and several uncontested requests. On docket 2740 the commission determined that a city‑affiliated cold storage building had been constructed without prior commission authorization and directed staff to send a letter of reprimand to the utility and require the utility to submit a plan within 30 days to avoid future violations, noting the utility could seek rate recovery of project costs in its pending rate case docket as specified in the record.
Other actions taken included approval, with conditions, of a waiver request (docket 6680PL2025) and authorization for Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company to refinance debt securities under the conditions outlined in staff's memo (docket 6725). These motions were moved, seconded and approved by recorded voice votes.
