Torrington’s small cities committee and the City Council approved payment of a $102 invoice to Robert Greene Associates for a title search related to the loan program.
Speaker 4, the committee treasurer, said title searches are part of the loan process and that in his nine years the committee had not previously had to approve them individually. He described a $70 base fee plus copying charges and said staff would arrange to obtain additional copies through the city clerk’s office to avoid future per-page charges. "I've been treasurer now for 9 years, and these payments, these title searches are part of the process that's needed to bring these loans before the small cities committee and the city council," Speaker 4 said.
Committee members agreed the $102 payment could move forward while staff follow up to confirm whether formal sign-off is required as a routine matter. Speaker 4 also said the check for the current invoice had been cut and was ready for mailing.
The motion to pay the invoice was moved and seconded in committee; members voted in favor. No additional policy changes to the title-search process were adopted at the meeting.
