Board of Public Safety approves minutes and routine reports; one abstention on joint meeting minutes

The Torrington Board of Public Safety voted on a series of routine procedural items Wednesday night, approving meeting minutes and departmental reports and opening the meeting to the public.
The board opened the meeting to the public after a motion from Commissioner Benedetto and a second from Commissioner Young and approved the action by voice vote. It then accepted the minutes of a Jan. 5 special joint meeting with the City Council; Commissioner Sherwood moved the motion and Commissioner Young seconded. The board recorded one abstention on that item. The board also approved the Jan. 7 regular meeting minutes after a motion from Commissioner Badaddegho and a second from Commissioner Young.
The board moved to accept Police Chief Baldwin’s December 2025 report, Fire Chief Tripp’s December 2025 report, and the EMS provider activity reports for December 2025 after motions and seconds on each item; those votes were approved by voice vote.
The board additionally approved a motion to consider business by the Policy Subcommittee and to consider business by the volunteer fire departments, department heads, and the mayor and members. The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn, which carried by voice vote.
Actions recorded at the meeting were procedural approvals and motions to proceed with subcommittee and department business; no binding ordinances, contracts, or budget adoptions were enacted during the session.
