Lewis County Historical Society presents volunteer-produced annual journal to Legislature

Arlene Hall, a member of the Lewis County Historical Society board of directors, spoke during privilege of the floor to present the Society’s annual journal to the Legislature and to thank the board for ongoing budget support.
Hall said the journal has been produced since the mid-1960s by a volunteer committee of roughly six or seven people and that each issue reflects local history (examples cited included Greystone Manor and war‑era stories). She estimated the volunteer commitment for an issue at about 500 hours, named the cover artist (John Ashton Golden) and invited legislators to visit the Society’s resource room.
Hall thanked the Legislature for including the Society in the county budget and encouraged members to stop by and see the Society’s work.
