Pembroke Pines adopts ordinance on recovery residents, approves drainage deeds

At its Feb. 4, 2026 meeting the Pembroke Pines City Commission completed several formal local actions.
Ordinance adoption: The commission held second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2026-01, which amends the city code (amending Section 155.0203) to add definitions for “recovery residents” and “reasonable accommodation” and to create Section 155.535 governing reasonable-accommodation applications for recovery residents. Commissioner Goode moved the ordinance; the vice mayor seconded. The clerk called the roll: Commissioner Goode — Yes; Vice Mayor Hernandez — Yes; Commissioner Rodriguez — Yes; Commissioner Schwartz — Yes; Mayor Angelo Castillo — Yes. Mayor Castillo announced he will sign the ordinance.
Resolution accepting deeds: The commission then considered Resolution No. 2026-R02, authorizing the city to accept two special warranty deeds from the Chapel Trail Corporate Park Association for property to be used as a drainage and water management area and authorizing the City Manager to execute the deeds and acknowledge attached restrictive covenants. The vice mayor moved the resolution; Commissioner Rodriguez seconded. After brief public thanks to staff the commission approved the resolution unanimously.
Consent agenda: The consent agenda (items 1–3) was moved and approved by voice vote prior to the ordinance and resolution.
