US Water says five filters rehabbed; final district maintenance report expected in April

Mike Miller, senior project manager for US Water Services, told the Riviera Beach Utility Special District on Jan. 22 that contractor maintenance at the existing plant has rehabilitated approximately five filters and that another filter will be returned to service after bacteriological analyses. Miller said the team plans additional filter work at the North Bay site and ongoing valve and yard repairs.

When asked whether the rehab would affect the water’s color and when residents could expect visible improvement, Miller said the filter work and backwashing program are intended to improve water quality and that the district should see progress “rather soon” but declined to give a specific date without consulting on‑site managers. He said the company’s final maintenance report is expected around April 2026, after maintenance activities are complete.

District leaders thanked US Water for stepping in during an earlier operational crisis and acknowledged continued litigation and claims activity from earlier water quality problems; staff said a small number of claims remain outstanding. The district added the US Water update to a broader agenda item on the GMP 5 water‑treatment plant and wellfield work presented later in the evening.

What’s next: US Water will complete its remaining maintenance tasks and provide the final report to the district in April 2026, staff said.
