Special Magistrate Jason Onacki opened the City of Pensacola Code Enforcement Authority hearing on Jan. 20, 2026, and resolved multiple enforcement matters. The magistrate recorded one case as compliant, forgave court costs after sanitation service was restored at a rental unit, and ordered court costs and daily fines where properties remained in violation.
Officer Kevin Smith told the panel that the property at 4030 Kingsbury Drive, previously cited for excessive weed growth, had been inspected Jan. 20 and "decided the violation has been brought into compliance," and the magistrate noted the case as closed.
Officer Ron Bowden presented evidence in the case at 683 Chadwick Street, including photographs and posted notices, saying the complaint began with citizen reports of inoperable vehicles. Bowden asked the court to "find that the property located at 683 Chadwick Street was in violation beyond the compliance date and order court costs in the amount of $200" and to begin a daily fine if corrective action was not completed by Feb. 2. Magistrate Onacki confirmed notice was properly provided, said no one appeared for the property, and granted the requested relief: $200 in court costs payable within 30 days and a daily fine to start Feb. 3 if the violation continues.
Tom Loeschick, a code enforcement specialist, presented a sanitation case for 200 East Hernandez Street, Apt. A, saying a final bill had been paid and service was corrected on Jan. 13, 2026. Based on that record, Onacki "granted the requested relief" and forgave court costs in that matter.
Bowden also presented an overgrowth case for 3324 Marcus Drive, reporting that notices were sent and posted but the property remained overgrown. He asked the court to find the property in violation and assess court costs of $200 and a daily fine if not corrected by Feb. 2. Onacki applied the legal standard, found notice adequate, set the comply-by date of Feb. 2, ordered $200 in court costs payable within 30 days, and set the daily fine at $25 per day beginning Feb. 3 if the violation persists.
