The Nantucket Finance Committee closed the public hearing on the 2026 warrant articles on Feb. 3 after hearing public comment and presentations and scheduled follow-up work on several items.
After hearing petitioners and residents, the committee agreed to defer motions on warrant articles while staff complete analyses and the Select Board considers any pilot recommendations. The committee recorded a voice vote to close the public hearing and later approved adjournment by voice vote.
Next steps noted during the meeting include a traffic-safety staff meeting on Feb. 19 to review the Surfside Road evaluation and pilot options, and scheduled committee discussion on Feb. 19 for Articles 68 (noise ordinance) and 73 (Baxter Road lease/geotube).
