YMCA reports membership growth, program expansion and a 25% drop in operational grants

The presentation noted third-party payer programs (SilverSneakers, Renew Active, SilverFit, Molina Healthcare) reimburse the YMCA for some memberships but payment often depends on participants scanning in; some programs only reimburse when usage thresholds are met.
Jackie outlined program trends: after-school attendance is increasing and early-out-day care arrangements with local schools have improved participation after providing free bus transport to the YMCA. Summer camp registration is open and basketball registration was stronger after moving the season to October.
On funding, Jackie said operational grants available to nonprofits declined sharply last year and attributed the YMCA's roughly 25% decrease in operational grants to reduced federal, state and foundation opportunities. She noted ongoing federal and state grant cycles and mentioned the rural infrastructure funding (RIF) program; if RIF is approved at the state level in June, it could offer a matching grant opportunity requiring a city match.
