Summary
The Finance Committee approved a bundle of routine fiscal articles — reserve fund ($500,000), county assessment ($250,155), OPEB contribution ($500,000) and senior work-off program ($25,000) — using a consent-style motion after staff explanations and brief questions.

At its Feb. 5 meeting the Finance Committee handled a cluster of routine fiscal warrant items by consent. Finance staff explained the reserve fund recommendation to "raise and appropriate $500,000" for FY27 and noted the town’s OPEB (other post-employment benefits) trust would receive a recommended $500,000 deposit. The county assessment recommendation to raise $250,155 was presented consistent with last year’s request.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about reserve levels and whether settlement funds from prior wind-related claims affected stabilization or other funds. Staff said the town’s OPEB trust balance is approximately $10 million and that a separate wind settlement fund exists under select-board direction for wind-related legal work.
The committee approved motions covering Articles 1, 5, 24, 27 and 29 (receipt of reports, reserve fund, county assessment, OPEB, and senior work-off program) by roll call. The senior work-off program motion would move $25,000 from free cash (surplus) to support the program for FY27.
