Judge Essex administered the oath, which included pledges to support the U.S. Constitution, the Ohio Constitution and the charter and ordinances of the City of Defiance. Kaufman repeated the oath and signed the oath paperwork in public view. Council members welcomed Kaufman to the dais.
The swearing‑in was followed by a roll call showing all council members present for the meeting. The council then proceeded with its regular agenda.
