A resident speaker told the Bluff Town Council on May 13 that Bluff has been certified as a Dark Sky community.
"We have received dark sky designation for, Bluff as a community," said Sarah Burack, who asked that staff and volunteers (Aaron, Malia and Diana Davidson) draft a public announcement and coordinate the timing with the Dark Sky Association. Burack said the association requests about 10 days' lead time to review and coordinate any public release.
Council members praised the work of volunteers and staff; Diana Davidson had already drafted a potential announcement. Staff said they will finalize an announcement date and coordinate posting on the town website and other channels once the Dark Sky Association's timing is confirmed.
The council did not take a formal vote on the announcement itself at the May 13 meeting; staff were asked to return with proposed release dates and a final public-notice plan.
