Bluff Council approves $14,500 pavement-management work order with Jones & DeMille

The Bluff Town Council on June 2 approved a $14,500 work order and agreement with Jones & DeMille to develop a five- to seven-year pavement-management plan for town roads.
Michael Haverton described the proposal, saying it would use a software platform called Violytics to evaluate roads and provide cost estimates and options (for example, chip seal vs. paving). "So what this is, is essentially, a 5 year to 7 year road improvement plan," Haverton said while outlining expected deliverables and the ability to produce mapping and condition assessments.
Haverton told the council the San Juan County Transportation Board had approved continued matching-grant funding and that the town should be eligible to recover roughly half of eligible project costs; he also said the county had approved approximately $26,000 for the town for the current fiscal year under an existing grant. Council members discussed mapping and how the plan would integrate with interns and the town’s GIS resources, then moved and passed the work order.
The motion to accept the Jones & DeMille work order was made and seconded and approved by the council. Staff said lump-sum or progress invoicing is possible under the contract and that the firm will produce maps and condition assessments for council review.
