Parent asks Mesquite ISD for written improvement plan after Beasley Elementary D rating

During the audience portion of the Mesquite ISD board meeting on Oct. 6, Veronica Woods, a parent of a fifth-grade student at Beasley Elementary, urged the district to provide a written improvement plan for the campus after it received a D rating.
Woods said parents had experienced poor communication and "weak instruction" and asked the district to share specific goals for academic progress, clear steps for improving teacher communication and instructional quality, defined timelines and accountability measures for review. She described the request as collaborative and said parents want transparency to help students succeed.
Superintendent and board members thanked Woods for raising the concern and acknowledged the request; trustees did not announce a formal timeline for producing a written plan during the meeting.
The board has several items on student-assessment and accountability on its agenda; district staff later described plans to post campus improvement plans on each school website and to work with Region 10 on diagnostics and targeted support.
