Board approves multiple personnel, improvement plans and district representation votes

During its November meeting the Mesquite ISD Board approved several routine and governance actions, including personnel appointments, performance objectives and an external representation vote.

The board approved the consent agenda by voice vote after a motion from Mister Seward and a second from Miss Hornsby. Under personnel items the board approved administrative term contracts, resignations and new hires (motion moved by Mister Seward, seconded by Miss Collier). As part of personnel introductions, the board welcomed Anthony Fontana as the new assistant principal at Willie Middle School and noted his 25 years of experience in public education.

Later in the meeting the board approved campus and district performance objectives after a motion by Miss Hornsby and a second by Mister Everett. The board also approved local improvement plans and targeted improvement plans (required for campuses that miss specific TEA targets) on a motion by Mister Bingham and a second by Miss Collier; presenters explained these plans are developed with campus needs assessments and Region 10 partnerships where required.

On an external governance item the board voted to cast all 40 of Mesquite ISD’s allocated votes for Kevin Carville Sr. to serve on the Dallas Central Appraisal District board of directors; Mister Seward made the motion and Miss Morrisby seconded it. The board voted by voice and the motion carried.

No controversial or emergency items were recorded during these votes; the meeting concluded with routine announcements and adjournment.
