The Mesquite Independent School District Board of Trustees approved its consent agenda and several personnel actions during a regularly scheduled January meeting.
A motion by Mr. Everett, seconded by Ms. Hornsby, carried to approve the consent agenda after no items were pulled for separate discussion. Board President called for the vote and declared the motion carried.
On a separate personnel item, Taylor Morris recommended Pam Sherrill to become the district's Director of Health Services, noting she had served as interim director since July 2025 and has more than 25 years of nursing experience, including district service beginning in 2015. "It is my pleasure to recommend Miss Pam Sherrill as the Director of Health Services," Morris said. A motion by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Seward, to approve the administrative contract passed; the board recorded the affirmative vote and the motion carried. Sherrill accepted and thanked the board, saying she was "honored to serve Mesquite ISD."
The board also approved a motion to terminate Chad Barry's term contract "for good cause." The motion, made by Mr. Everett and seconded by Ms. Collier, carried. No further details were provided during the open session about the grounds for termination.
The meeting closed with routine business and adjournment. The board did not provide roll-call vote counts for the above motions in the public record during the meeting.
