Bluff intern digitizes road assets, produces roads manual to preserve institutional knowledge

Hayden said he imported a town boundary shapefile into Diamond Maps, added road layers, culvert and sign markers, and updated the road-sign inventory to reflect recent changes. He demonstrated how Diamond Maps’ pin and share functions can speed communications with county road crews and other partners.
Hayden also explained a roads department manual he prepared to document annual maintenance, contacts, past projects and procedural details before the current roads manager departs. The manual includes recommended future priorities (for example, culvert maintenance on east and west sides of town) and is designed as a living document the next roads manager can update.
Council members praised the work and asked Hayden to schedule a demonstration session with staff and the departing roads manager so the Jones & DeMille shape files can be uploaded into Diamond Maps. The council agreed that the manual and data handoff will ease the transition when the roads manager leaves.

Next steps: Council requested a short demonstration of the Diamond Maps data and the manual before the roads manager leaves and asked staff to coordinate import of additional shape files from outside consultants.
