The recommended schedule included notices posted to the San Juan Record, letters of interest due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, interviews during the commission’s Nov. 6 meeting (or Nov. 20 if more time is needed), and a council appointment thereafter. Applicants must complete conflict‑of‑interest disclosures and verify voter registration as part of the process.
On planning matters, staff said both a redline and a clean edit of the general plan and a draft renewable energy ordinance will be posted online and scheduled for a joint public hearing with Planning & Zoning and the Town Council on Oct. 28. The renewable energy ordinance will require conditional‑use review for larger installations, include decommissioning language and address battery‑storage safety in some residential contexts. Staff noted the Hansen Group had recommended statutory and demographic updates and that public comment will inform final edits.
Next steps: staff will post notices and documents to the town website and the San Juan Record and prepare for the Oct. 28 hearing.
