Planning commission recommends approval for 7.83-acre hobby-farm rezoning

Walton County Planning Commission members voted Feb. 5 to recommend approval of a rezoning request (Z250397) to change 7.83 acres at 2310 Ho Hollow Road from R-1 to A-1 to allow limited personal animals on a hobby-farm scale. Ned Butler, representing Jeffrey Brass and Amy Nicole Carter, said the tract is part of a subdivision rezoned in 2005 and the homeowners intend to retain limited animals ("a cow or two," he said) consistent with county zoning limits on animals per acre.
No members of the public spoke in opposition. Commissioner (speaker 7) moved to approve the application as submitted, the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for final action on March 3.
The commission noted that access to the home will be from interior subdivision roads and that applicants must comply with the county’s animal-density regulations during permitting and final platting.
