At its Feb. 2 meeting the Trenton City Council approved several routine items and used the meeting for local announcements.
On procurement, the council authorized the purchase of 455 trash carts from Shaffer Plastics at $51 per cart (plus freight) for a total of $24,633; funds were identified in sanitation and recycling replacement accounts and from sales revenue. Council members discussed cart lifespan and the interchangeable-lid design to streamline collection.
The council approved a DDA special-events application for the "Granny Tynes Cookie Crawl Bingo" (Feb. 7, 4–9 PM; tickets $30) and agreed to a $5,000 annual membership fee for Destination Downriver, a regional marketing collaboration.
A late item rescheduled the March 16, 2026 regular council meeting to March 23, 2026, which the council approved. Council also approved authorized disbursements dated Feb. 2 in the amount of $201,135,639.61 and received multiple board/commission minutes and reports.
Councilmembers used the meeting to offer condolences for recently deceased community figures, urge residents to clear sidewalks and obey the 200-foot rule when following snowplows, and promote upcoming events including the mayor's "State of the City" ('bougie') banquet.
