Trenton council approves resolution to vacate end of Truax Street

Trenton City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-2 on Feb. 2, 2026, to vacate the end of Truax Street from Riverside Drive to the Detroit River after a public hearing that produced no public comment.

Dean, the staff presenter on the record, told the council the vacated portion would be divided among adjoining property owners and said the action was part of a broader agreement related to the Riverside property. "This is vacating the end of Truax Street, from Riverside Drive to the river, and then the property would be split between adjoining property owners," he said during his presentation.

The legal description read into the record describes the parcel as part of Plat Number 1, Section 18, Town 4 South, Range 11 East, in the city of Trenton, Wayne County, and recorded in Liber 66, page 28 of plats in Wayne County records. The clerk had earlier read the public hearing notice and explained the hearing was being held for the purpose of receiving comments regarding the proposed vacation.

No members of the public offered comment during the hearing on the record, and the council moved and supported approval of the resolution; the motion carried unanimously.
