Trenton DDA reviews recent grants, events and streetscape plans

The Downtown Development Authority on Feb. 2 told the Trenton City Council it has issued recent business improvement grants and is advancing several downtown projects.
DDA Director Angelia Busino said the DDA completed two business improvement grants in the last six months: a roughly $2,000 signage grant for 2455 West Jefferson and a $50,000 façade grant for 3360 West Jefferson. "We are really excited" about those projects, Busino said, urging residents to support the renovated storefronts.
Busino reported the DDA has issued about $36,000 in its "Downtown Dollars" community gift-certificate program, with 15 participating merchants and promotional deals the DDA said help local businesses. She also listed recent event sponsorships — Lobsterpalooza (~$3,000) and Witches Night Out (~$1,000) — and a $50,000 contribution to seating renovations at the Trenton Village Theatre.
On planning, Busino said the DDA received a $4,000 planning-assistance grant to fund a West Jefferson streetscape study that will conclude in June. She summarized capital projects including completion of the Elm parking lot and ongoing work at Rotary Park, and described a draft Tiffin development plan for which the DDA is recruiting citizen advisory members.
Busino invited the public to a street master plan open house on Feb. 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, focused on West Jefferson between Maple and Harrison, and encouraged residents to review interactive stations and provide input.
The presentation was informational; council members thanked the DDA and raised no substantive objections or motions. The council later approved a related DDA special-event permit for the "Granny Tynes Cookie Crawl Bingo."
