Park, library, school and fire districts report projects and grants to Itasca board

Representatives from Itasca’s park district, library, schools and fire district provided updates during the intergovernmental committee report on Nov. 5.
The park district described plans for a roughly 1,000‑square‑foot addition that will house gymnastics/dance program space and additional program rooms; construction is planned to start after Itasca Fest next year and funding will come from refinancing bonds, fund balance, and a pending grant request. The park district also plans to present more details to the board later.
Library staff noted the elevator is back in service and that the library has reinitiated an Itasca archives program, with materials donated or loaned by local churches and businesses.
The school district reported an annual report and public‑education campaign: all three district schools received an "exemplary" rating from the state. The district is preparing a presentation for the Nov. 19 meeting and will coordinate on drop‑off lane and engineering needs for next summer.
The fire district reported that station remodeling is well underway and expected to finish in early February; they also noted a $200,000 grant for new hoses and a $400,000 grant for a reserve ambulance, while warning of longer lead times (2 years for new ambulances, 4–5 years for trucks).
Staff said they will research developer 'land cash' donations going back to 2019 after the park district reported it had not received such donations since that year.
What happens next: board will receive the school district presentation on Nov. 19; staff will research land‑cash donation history and report back.
