The Village of Itasca on Nov. 19 accepted the Itasca Fest profit-and-loss statement prepared by the Itasca Lions Club and voted to donate half of the $19,040.58 refund to local charities.
Trustee Powers reviewed the profit-and-loss, saying attendance and revenue were down after inclement weather and that net revenue returned to the village totaled $19,040.58 compared with nearly $50,000 the prior year. He described several options — apply the refund against a roughly $69,000 village shortfall for the festival, donate the full amount to local charities, or split the refund — and the board settled on a 50/50 split.
Trustee (speaker 3) moved to accept the profit-and-loss as prepared by the Itasca Lions Club and to donate half of the $19,040.58 refund in a prearranged formula to the village’s usual charitable beneficiaries; the motion was seconded and passed on roll call. Staff said a separate disbursement memo will follow and that the village will sit down with the Lions Club to clarify and, if needed, renegotiate the sponsorship/donation agreement for future years.
What this means: charitable organizations that historically received Itasca Fest proceeds will receive a distribution based on the village’s allocation formula; the board also preserved the option to retain part of future refunds if festival costs require it.
