Itasca board backs submission of green infrastructure grant application to Illinois EPA

The Village of Itasca Board of Trustees voted Nov. 19 to waive a second reading and approve a resolution supporting the submission of a green infrastructure project application to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
Trustee Iyani told the board the packet included a memo from staff and background material on the funding opportunity and said "I don't see a downside." Marcus (staff) said the village applied last year and did not receive funding but has reworked the application to incorporate initial EPA feedback. He told the board: "So that application is due tomorrow at, noon." The board unanimously approved waiving a second reading and supporting the application.
The action allows staff to file the application by the published deadline; any award would be reported back to the board and would be subject to the grant terms and future appropriation if awarded.
