The Linden Board of Education on Monday approved a tentative memorandum of agreement with the Linden Custodians Bargaining Unit and completed a slate of routine committee motions, then appointed Rempe Kalia to a vacant board seat through Dec. 31, 2026, pending a background check.
Board attorney reported the negotiations committee had reached a tentative agreement with the custodial and maintenance unit and asked the board to vote to approve the memorandum of agreement. A motion and a second were made and the board recorded affirmative roll-call votes on the measure.
Following the attorney's item, the board approved education committee items 1–25, finance committee items 1–27, and buildings and grounds items 1–9. Each set of motions was presented by the committee chair, seconded, and passed on roll call with members recorded as voting yes.
After a brief executive session and return to open session, the board voted to appoint Rempe Kalia to fill a vacant seat with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2026, pending completion of a background check. The personnel report and appointments numbered 1–32 were then approved as presented.
The board adjourned following the votes. No dissenting votes were recorded in the public transcript available for this meeting.
