Linden High School students and staff were recognized at the Dec. 15 board meeting for recent academic and extracurricular achievements, and the district presented a $7,888.84 donation to Susan G. Komen.
Student representative Ananice (Annalise) Matos told the board that members of the class of 2026 have earned $1,458,000 in scholarships so far and listed recent student activities, including a Dec. 3 college tour and successful winter arts and athletic events. Matos also highlighted that 145 students had perfect attendance and 242 students made the principal’s honor roll for the marking period.
The board recognized Linden students who were selected from about 800 applicants to attend a competitive six‑week mini‑med program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School; participating students were invited to the podium to share brief remarks about the experience. Club advisors and staff who supported the program were also thanked.
Separately, assistant superintendent announced that district and community fundraising would benefit Susan G. Komen; Judy Dawson, the foundation’s development manager, accepted the $7,888.84 donation and said the gift “is gonna make a definite difference.”
The board also honored multiple science teachers named as New Jersey finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST); certificates were presented to the honorees.
Board members congratulated students and staff and encouraged continued engagement with college and career opportunities.
