On staffing, the planning department said it is actively recruiting for a residential building inspector and will recruit at two levels simultaneously—seeking a certified building inspector and an entry‑level code enforcement specialist who could train on the job. The department said the commercial inspector is temporarily covering residential permitting and that staff are pursuing a short‑term contract inspector to fill in while recruitment continues.
A commissioner questioned the accuracy of a chart in the report for 2024, noting what appeared to be reversed figures (for example, one line appeared to indicate 75 new buildings versus six units); staff said the underlying records came from the assessor and that the department would investigate whether a reporting change or aberration caused the discrepancy.
No formal votes were required on the report items; staff concluded the department updates and the commission moved on to other business.
