County Administrator (S3) summarized the request from Christy Letourneau, the food cupboard's director, noting the group operates mobile trucks that visit towns across Somerset and was previously denied a matching grant because some spending would occur outside the organized territory. “They're requesting a donation of $8,000 toward their general operating costs,” S3 said.
Commissioners discussed the nonprofit's reported counts and clarified that the organization counts total stops and serves rather than unique households; S3 explained the 1,495 figure in the packet represents cumulative stop‑serves over multiple visits. Commissioners asked that the food cupboard provide regular reporting on service numbers (biannual or annual) to Somerset Public Health.
The commission approved Resolution 26‑27 to donate $8,000 to the Winslow Community Food Cupboard, to be drawn from community‑benefit or TIP funds. The motion was moved, seconded and carried.
