Clinton council ratifies emergency fire-truck purchase, approves budget amendments and adopts hazard-mitigation resolution

The Clinton City Council approved several administrative and operational items after the day's public hearings, including a ratified emergency purchase of a ladder fire truck, routine budget amendments, and a resolution reaffirming the city's hazard mitigation plan.
Council ratified a contract to acquire a ladder truck the city had sought on an emergency basis after its ladder truck went out of service; the mayor said new vehicles have lead times of two to two-and-a-half years and noted a replacement vehicle was parked outside the meeting. "If anybody wants to see [the] 1,000,000 dollar fire truck, you go right out the door and look at it," a council member said during closing remarks.
The council approved routine budget amendments and adopted a hazard mitigation plan reaffirmation to preserve municipal eligibility for FEMA disaster funding. The council also approved a bid to repave the asphalt portion of a driveway at Station 1, appointed a delegate and alternate to the Mid Carolina Regional Council of Governments, and approved a list of items to be declared surplus as published in the agenda packet.
There was little debate on these items; motions carried in sequence and the council adjourned.
