Board approves consent agenda including property sales, printer financing and a $5.03 million renovation bid

The board moved and carried a series of consent items by voice vote during the meeting.

Approved items included routine business and several financial/real-estate actions: an out-of-state travel/study request, an MOU with the WU Department of Communication Disorders, and a resolution to finance 13 printers at a cost of $95,729 payable over 63 months.

The board also approved multiple property sales presented on the agenda: the sale of the former Northview Elementary School and adjacent lot to Emmanuel Baptist Church for $126,500; a bank property sale for $14,300 to Asia Media and Chris Media; the sale of the former Washington Irving Middle School to K Logistics LLC for $101,750,000 (figure recorded from the transcript as stated during the motion); and smaller lot sales for amounts cited on the agenda. Board members authorized the superintendent to execute the related documents.

For capital projects, the board approved the lowest qualified bidder for Robert C Byrd High School renovations in the amount of $5,030,000 (including alternates) for work that includes cafeteria expansion, a ProStart area and a dual shop/classroom configuration. The board requested access to the bid tabulation sheets.

The board also approved a recommended purchase order to the law firm Stepto & Johnson for up to $98,000 for fiscal year 2026 legal services, and approved personnel items including resignations. All motions were carried by voice vote with procedural "aye" responses recorded; no roll-call tallies with member names were read aloud.
