The Northumberland County Salary Board voted Feb. 3 to establish a county fiscal officer position that the board said would be primarily housed at the Thunderbird County Jail but available to serve other departments.
The motion, introduced by the presiding speaker, set pay at $17 per hour and specified a 33-hour workweek, with an effective date clarified as Feb. 2, 2026. During discussion the presiding speaker said, “this fiscal officer can be used other places beside the prison,” emphasizing that the position is not limited to jail duties.
Board members moved and seconded a separate, procedural motion to approve and dispense with the reading of the minutes from the Dec. 23, 2025 salary board meeting, which passed by voice vote. The fiscal officer motion was then put to a roll call vote and the presiding speaker announced the motion carried.
The meeting record shows no named mover or seconder for the fiscal-officer motion and no member-level roll call attributions beyond recorded affirmative responses. The board recessed at the end of the session and indicated another meeting will be held at the same location.
