Washington Elementary School Board reelects Kyle Clayton as president; Lindsey Peterson returns as vice president

The Washington Elementary School District governing board unanimously reelected Kyle Clayton as president and Lindsey Peterson as vice president at its regular meeting Thursday.

Bill Adams nominated Clayton for president; Miss Tucker conducted a roll-call vote in which Lindsey Peterson, Jenny Abbot Bayardi and Bill Adams voted in favor, and Clayton was declared reelected. Clayton accepted the nomination and said he intends to continue work to finalize hiring a permanent superintendent, lead enrollment-stabilization efforts and negotiate contracts with an eye to fiscal responsibility.

Clayton then nominated Lindsey Peterson for vice president; she accepted and briefly thanked the board. A roll-call vote confirmed Peterson’s reelection.

The board also moved to adopt the Jan. 15 agenda and approved the Dec. 11, 2025 regular and public hearing minutes. The consent agenda passed without items pulled.

The meeting concluded with approval of the proposed governing board meeting calendar for the 2026–27 year; board members noted a scheduling conflict on April 9 and staff agreed to follow up on that date.
