During routine business on Dec. 8, the Fairfax City Planning Commission considered an appointment to the Facade and Interiors Improvement Grant Committee. Planning staff explained the committee, run by the Economic Development Office, reviews grant applications from businesses seeking facility upgrades and that participation is generally light and by appointment when applications are submitted.
Commissioner (speaker 5) nominated Kristen Lockhart to serve as the Planning Commission’s representative. The commission took a roll-call vote by name; all present voted aye and the nomination passed unanimously. Chair Feather thanked Lockhart and said staff will notify the Economic Development Office so the committee can include her in upcoming application reviews.
Why it matters: The appointment fills a long-standing vacancy and gives the Planning Commission a designated representative to review facade and interior improvement grant applications on behalf of the commission.
